Matthew 4:3-4 -And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, it is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. It’s important that we get one thing straight, God tempts no man with evil James 1:13. If we continually battle with that in our thinking the enemy will win every time. If you think God is the source of your opposition in life how do you know when to resist Satan? James 4:7 -Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Now that we have settle that let’s look at some reasons for temptation. To steal the Word–Mark 4:15-And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. To make our witness weak –2 Samuel 12:13-14– And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said unto David, The Lord also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. Allow this to be the central core of your thinking, God forgives sin. But when we sin and the world finds out they disrespect our God because of our actions. To get back at God-Satan used to be in God’s presence continually. Ezekiel 28:14 New American Standard Bible- “You were the anointed cherub who covers, And I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of God; you walked in the midst of the stones of fire. Not only have we taken over his ministry of worship but we are sons of God he was only a servant. To find out if you are genuine –John 14:30-Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. It’s easy to say amen in church but he’ll wait until you get home to see if you really trust God like you say. It’s not hard at all to look spiritual before people but in the ditches we’re to still trust God. I mean trust Him through sickness, lack, confusion in the home everything. Every man or woman is tempted. It doesn’t mean you’re an ugly person it just means you’re alive. When you get free in an area stay free, you stay free by feeding on God’s word in that area. Luke 11:23-26-When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, I will return unto my house whence I came out. And when he cometh, he finds it swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and takes to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. If you’re not going to pick up your bible during the week then your threshold for pressure is going to be real low. You will not be able to resist him. It takes the grace of God to live holy in all this darkness. Titus 2:12-For the grace of God that brings salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world. This isn’t will power it’s grace power that keeps our lifestyle holy when we are pulled in so many different directions. His grace will teach us how to do it.
