God’s Blueprint for Marriage

Psalm 127: 1

Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.

Many couples set out to build loving relationships without a plan or blueprint.  They only hope things will work out without any definite guidelines and structure.  Many times they are using the wrong materials in their construction and their measurements are off.  That is, some couples are trying to use the materials of selfishness, malice, and disrespect for their walls; the boards of kindness and affection are too short for the floors; the boards of anger are too long in the bedroom, and the “foundations of love” have many cracks in them.  Besides, the termites of unforgiveness eat away at the framework of marriages and many relationships are destroyed.  Consequently, these self-directed projects have led to many “code” violations.

However, the Lord has provided a blueprint for husbands (men) and wives (women) to build their marriages.  It is a joint-venture involving both husbands and wives.  That is, husbands are asked to construct the walls of love, sacrifice, and kindness.  Women are asked to construct the walls of support, respect, and submission.  In addition, the foundation is to be mortar-mixed by the fruit of the Spirit and the roof is to be shingled by the Word of God.  One of the main features of this building is that the blueprint calls for the construction of a “Son” room.  It is a guest room where Jesus can dwell and provide guidance and direction for married couples according to God’s blueprint: the Bible.

Moreover, following God’s design for marriage is the only sure way to avoid “code violations” and produce lasting relationships.  In fact, husbands and wives utilizing the blueprint of God to build their marriages are guaranteed to pass inspection and bring their relationships up to code. God is the inspector—He may be coming to visit us next.  Will we pass or fail?

When the Tempter comes

Matthew 4:3-4 -And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, it is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. It’s important that we get one thing straight, God tempts no man with evil James 1:13. If we continually battle with that in our thinking the enemy will win every time. If you think God is the source of your opposition in life how do you know when to resist Satan? James 4:7 -Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Now that we have settle that let’s look at some reasons for temptation. To steal the WordMark 4:15-And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. To make our witness weak 2 Samuel 12:13-14– And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said unto David, The Lord also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. Allow this to be the central core of your thinking, God forgives sin. But when we sin and the world finds out they disrespect our God because of our actions. To get back at God-Satan used to be in God’s presence continually. Ezekiel 28:14 New American Standard Bible- “You were the anointed cherub who covers, And I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of God; you walked in the midst of the stones of fire. Not only have we taken over his ministry of worship but we are sons of God he was only a servant. To find out if you are genuine  John 14:30-Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. It’s easy to say amen in church but he’ll wait until you get home to see if you really trust God like you say. It’s not hard at all to look spiritual before people but in the ditches we’re to still trust God. I mean trust Him through sickness, lack, confusion in the home everything. Every man or woman is tempted. It doesn’t mean you’re an ugly person it just means you’re alive. When you get free in an area stay free, you stay free by feeding on God’s word in that area. Luke 11:23-26-When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, I will return unto my house whence I came out. And when he cometh, he finds it swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and takes to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. If you’re not going to pick up your bible during the week then your threshold for pressure is going to be real low. You will not be able to resist him. It takes the grace of God to live holy in all this darkness. Titus 2:12-For the grace of God that brings salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world. This isn’t will power it’s grace power that keeps our lifestyle holy when we are pulled in so many different directions. His grace will teach us how to do it.

It’s God’s ball

1 Corinthians 3:5-7– Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that waters; but God that gives the increase. This attitude should be majored by every Believer especially those of us called to the ministry. One plants one waters but ultimately God causes it to grow. We work together for a common cause. We help each other and support each other and it makes the heart of the Father God glad. It’s not my ball or yours its God’s. He anoints us with His anointing He equips us with His equipment. Philippians 2:13-For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. There’s no competition, no big me and little you. We all come from the same source. When you win I win if I lose you should come to my aid for we are members one of another. I cannot say I don’t need you and you cannot say you don’t need me if we do we tell a lie. There was a time we majored in our differences but the body of Christ is growing up. There are times when fighting among ourselves the enemy stood back and laugh. But no more, we are walking in love more now than ever we are forgiving and being long suffering to the glory of God. Now the enemy doesn’t know what to do with us for we remembered that god made us one.
